May Dip

Hey everyone! Tonight's the big night before the famous May Dip at St Andrews, where tomorrow morning, everyone will be rushing into the chilly North Sea. 

Right now (this post was programmed😂), the town is buzzing as no one plans on sleeping tonight. Everyone is  just hanging out, feeling the excitement build. While some of us are probably studying for our final exams (I better be✍🏻), tonight will be one of the busiest nights of the year. There are events that started 10+ hours ago!

The moment the sun peeks out, that’s our cue. Everyone will head out for East Sands and wait for their friends to sprint into the freezing water.🥶 The screams and laughs will be heard all over the North Sea, but I’m sure that those of us with our Kiff-Kiff bathing suits will be just fine. 

The funny thing is that this tradition used to be to clean off any bad luck before the examination period but since most people (not me) have already finished their exams it has just become another excuse to have fun.

And don’t worry about safety—there are plenty of lifeguards and first aid teams ready to help out, making sure everyone can enjoy the dip without stress, or at least not too much.

Post-dip, the beach turns into a spot for everyone to dry off, try to warm up, and hang out around the fires. Whether you dip or just come to watch, everyone is part of the fun.

I’ve been told that the coolest people on the beach are the ones that wear their Kiff-Kiff bathing suits, so what are you waiting for, order your’s for next year! 😎
