Hi all,
I hope you’re doing well. It’s been two weeks since my last post about moving to London, and I’m happy to say I’m really starting to enjoy it here. Once you get over the initial price shock (a big if), you start to realise this city offers plenty of amazing experiences without emptying your wallet. I’ll share a post soon about the best things to do in London on a tight budget, but today I want to share a great experience I had over the weekend.
This weekend I saw Blanca, a good friend from back home, as she competed in the PIF Series London event at Centurion Golf Club near Luton. The event started on Friday, but since Luton isn’t exactly around the corner I could only make it for Saturday. It was worth the trip. Blanca was an incredible host and I spent most of the day with her, it was great!
I’ll be posting some videos soon, as I was her unofficial videographer for the day. I also got to support several other Spanish LET players, which is always fun.
Here are the things that stood out the most for me:
1. The scale of the setup
The semi-permanent tents were impressive. The only LET tournament I had attended before was a Spanish Open at El Race a few years ago, and that event had almost no tent structures. This felt completely different.
2. The hospitality and atmosphere
The whole event had a festival feel, with upbeat music, food credits included with the ticket, welcoming hospitality areas, and contests on the app for predicting scores.
3. The dominance of one sponsor
It was clear this was a PIF-financed event. Their branding was everywhere, and I barely noticed any other sponsors.
4. The team format
I loved the vibe it created. Players were genuinely happy when their teammates made a birdie, and it added a new layer of excitement to the game.
5. The kindness and inspiration
The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and family-friendly. I saw so many young girls looking at the players with wide eyes, imagining themselves out there one day.
Overall, it was an incredible experience. I’m so grateful to have a friend competing at this level, which gives me the chance to be part of moments like these.
PS: Blanca is currently open for sponsorship opportunities. If you or someone you know might be interested in supporting her and getting great visibility in return, I can assure you it will be worth it.
