First work trip - Interbrand London

Hey there! Now that exams are done I’m back to blogging 💪🏻.

Three weeks ago I had my first ever work trip and I wanted to let you know how it went.

The main goal was to get some face-to-face time at Interbrand to plan the next big project. Imagine two full days of work, plus cramming in studying over dinner until late. Sounds intense, right? Well I absolutely loved it!

Even though it was a super quick trip, I squeezed in some time to see the London Bridge (took that nice Linkedin selfie 😉), and I got to catch up with my friend Natalia who I hadn’t seen in over a year. I couldn’t really afford any more days in London with all the exams I had to prepare for, but I think the intensity of the trip made it even better.

Travel truth? Work trips are exhausting in a totally different way than vacations. It’s not just about the early mornings and late nights; it’s about staying switched on the whole time. That said, standing there, traveling just like I had always seen my dad do, felt like a real step up in my career.

If you're ever heading from St. Andrews to London for work, learn from my mistakes and take my advice: go by train. It's smooth, drops you right at King's Cross, and you can actually get a lot more work done on the way. Trust me, it’s a game-changer.

A couple of pro tips from my newbie experience:

  • Don’t overpack. Seriously, you don’t need that much stuff for a couple of days.

  • Keep an eye on your train stops. I missed mine on the way back and ended up in Dundee at midnight, decked out in my suit, racing for the last bus back to St. Andrews. Not my finest hour…

This trip definitely felt like the first of many. It was a crash course in juggling work and travel, and honestly, I can’t wait for the next one. Cheers to more airport-to-office-to-airport trips and meeting a lot of great people along the way!

I won't be in Spain untill mid May so I'm really going to take advantage of these two weeks and get back on the golf grind as much as possible, keep a close eye on my instagram to see how that is going.

Best,

Fer
